EL COTO – A HIDDEN GEM IN THE CENTRE OF NEWCASTLE

I love eating out and I have discovered a tapas restaurant that I can honestly say is one of the best I’ve ever been to. It’s not just the amazing food, but the atmosphere and experience that goes with it.

El Coto is tucked away on Leazes Park Road in Newcastle, and doesn’t look like much when you walk past, but down a long corridor at the back of the restaurant are two floors which offer an intimate dining experience. With low lighting and Spanish themed music, you could honestly believe that you were sitting in an authentic Spanish restaurant.

For those who have not tried tapas before, I’d suggest trying one of the set menus as they provide a selection of the most popular dishes. I found it provided a great sample of their food and also made it easier to pick what I wanted on later visits. They also offer a killer Sangria which is very much recommended.

I love restaurants that have a bit of an atmosphere and El Coto boasts a great ambiance that definitely makes you want to go back again (and again, and again).

It’s reasonably priced. You’re looking at an average of around £4.95 per dish and a bottle of wine will set you back about £12.95.

If you’re looking for something a bit different, it’s definitely worth a trip, however I would suggest you book in advance as I’ve struggled to get a table on the last few occasions I’ve visited.
