I was recently invited to a perfume preview evening courtesy of fragrance and beauty specialists, Kenneth Green Associates. The event took place at Intu’s Metrocentre, in the VIP shopping suite at House of Fraser.
The event itself included an introduction to the brands that are managed by Kenneth Green, in addition to the opportunity to sample some of their new and classic fragrances. Brands at the event included Kenzo, Jimmy Choo, Abercrombie and Fitch, Elie Saab, Montblanc, Issey Miyake and Zadig&Voltaire.
As one of the leading perfume distributors, the calibre of the brands at the event was second to none and the evening was very interesting and the first time I have been educated about the ingredients and processes that create the scents we all wear day-to-day.
If I’m honest, I’ve never really been a huge perfume lover which, for the amount I spend on other beauty products, is quite surprising. I think this is generally down to the fact that perfume shopping isn’t something I’ve really done. I can remember visiting numerous makeup stands when I was younger looking for products to buy, however fragrance just wasn’t something I ever bought and I guess that hadn’t changed until quite recently. This event actually sealed the deal as I now wear perfume all of the time and take a real interest in the scents themselves and how they are constructed!
There were too many perfumes at the event to go through individually so I have picked the three fragrances that I am currently wearing to share with you. There’s two in there for the men also which would be a great idea for Christmas presents or any male readers looking for some suggestions!
For the girls…
Jimmy Choo L’EAU – This is a very light fragrance that combines a selection of floral and fresh notes to create an easy-to-wear scent. I have primarily been wearing this as an evening scent as it’s quite strong and tends to stay on the skin well!
Montblanc Lady Emblem Elixir – I have never tried Montblanc fragrances before so this one was completely new to me. I love the bottle and it looks perfect perched on a shelf or dressing table. The scent itself is more spicy than the others I have tried, combining waves of sandalwood, vanilla and patchouli. I really like this scent and it’s quickly become one of my favourites.
Abercrombie and Fitch First Instinct – I always like to keep an emergency bag in my car and this perfume is now my go-to scent. It combines ingredients psych as Magnolia, Grape and Passion Fruit and Wild Orange Flower, creating a scent that is great for day-to-day wear.
For the boys…
Jimmy Choo Man Ice – Quite a light and contemporary scent, I love the bottle and smell of this aftershave. It has more of a musky base, but is still light and not too overpowering. It stays on the skin very well too!
Montblanc Emblem Absolu – I loved this fragrance as soon as I sprayed it and I’ve come to like it more and more. I would say this was a lot stronger scent than the Jimmy Choo, however it isn’t overpowering or too heavy.
All of the scents above can be purchased at all good stores and I would highly recommend them. Thank you to Kenneth Green Associates for the invitation and their generous hospitality!
