I’ve recently returned back from an amazing trip to Las Vegas where my group of best friends and I were celebrating our friend Lauren’s hen party. Lauren is the last of our group to get married so we decided to go out in style, which we certainly did!
Prior to the hen party I’d been planning a trip to London to shop but for one reason or another this didn’t happen, so I decided to try and work through some of my 2017 shopping wish list whilst I was there.
Anyone who knows me will know that a large majority of my money goes on shoes and I’ve spent the last few years building up a capsule collection of styles that I can keep for years to come.
As usual, I’d spent the weeks prior to my visit trawling magazines, blogs and social media to get an understanding of the styles currently in stores and what I felt I needed to add to my closet. This led me to settle on a pair of ankle boots, some sandals and a smart pair of flats. I’d been saving some money to buy each of these styles so was delighted that I managed to find a pair of each. Some information about each pair and my reasons for buying them are below! You can also see more of these shoes on my YouTube channel.
Christian Louboutin Karistrapp Boot – 50cm
Prior to my visit to Las Vegas I’d ordered a pair of Valentino ankle boots that just weren’t flattering due to the place they cut off. I’m only 5″3 and find purchasing ankle boots a real challenge as they can often shorten my legs. After returning my Valentino boots I’d been looking for a replacement online and came across the Christian Louboutin Karistrapp boot on the US version of their site. They have a great feature that allows you to check the stock at each store, so I was delighted when I looked a few days before my trip and found that both stores in Las Vegas had them in my size.
These boots are available in sand and black, however I have numerous pairs of black boots so I decided to purchase this style in sand. Although I loved them in the shop, I had worn shorts on the day we went shopping which meant that I hadn’t tried them on with jeans (which is how I’d primarily wear them), so I bought them anyway on the basis that I could take them back if I didn’t like them when I got them to the hotel. Luckily I did so I ended up keeping them.
The cut of these boots was very flattering for those of us who are more vertically challenged (!?) and the block heel makes them really easy to wear out and about. You can find out more about my reasons for buying these boots and, view them in person, on my YouTube channel which can be found by clicking here.
Chanel Flat Pearl Shoes
So, I have literally had my eyes on these shoes for about nine months but couldn’t find them anywhere. My husband and I have trawled Chanel shops across Europe looking for them but they have been sold out everywhere, so I was delighted when I arrived at Heathrow Terminal 5 and found them out in my size (this was definitely fate).
Since having my baby I don’t get the opportunity to wear high shoes as much as my son is now quite heavy and a stiletto heel isn’t practical so I felt this style would be great for days when I want a smarter shoe without a heel. There’s nothing I don’t like about this shoe and I can’t wait to wear it in the summer! You can take a closer look at this style on my YouTube video by clicking here.
Chanel Braided Wedges
These shoes weren’t actually the ones I went in to buy on the day, but I changed my mind at the last minute and decided to go with a wedge heel rather than flats.
As I’ve said, I don’t get the chance to wear heels as much these days but I do find wedges are the exception. I loved the colour of this shoe and the fact they will go with just about anything. They did also come in black but as they are a summer shoe I felt the gold would be nicer.
I had white jeans on when I bought these and they looked really nice, however they also go very well with dresses and shorts, making them a very versatile shoe. I can see me getting a lot of wear out of them and I’m sure they will be my new shoe of choice for trips abroad or smart afternoons out.
I always tend to go shopping and take a few days to think about any expensive item I’m going to buy to see if it sticks in my mind as I find this is a great indicator as to whether I actually do like something. Although the other shoes were, and still are, in my mind, I think I made the right decision going for a wedge as I only have one other pair in my closet so I think I will get a lot of wear out of them.
I have created a video that talks about each of these styles in greater depth and my reasons for buying them, the size I ended up buying (something I’m often asked about as they can change so much between suppliers), how I will wear them and some close up shots of each shoe.
