Chiquito Mexican Restaurant Metrocentre Review

Mexican food is up there with one of my favourite cuisines so I was absolutely delighted when I received an invite to the new Chiquito mexican restaurant that has opened in Intu Metrocentre’s newly refurbished food hall. Since having Zachary it can be quite tricky to find somewhere that is child-friendly on a weekend, however we felt a visit to the restaurant on a Friday evening would be a good idea so started our night at Oh You Pretty Things champagne bar before heading to Chiquito.

We hadn’t booked a table and were quite worried on arrival as the restaurant was quite busy, however the staff showed us to the bar and advised a table would be ready soon. I wanted to fully embrace the Mexican theme so opted for a Margarita (my favourite cocktail), which arrived just as we were shown to our table.

After lots of deliberation we eventually agreed on some starters and main courses that we could share to allow us to sample as much of the menu as possible. You can view the full menu by clicking here.

For starters, we opted for Catina Mushrooms and Jalapeno Poppers, with Chicken Fajitas, Spicy Chicken Quesadillas and Sweet Potato Fries for our main courses.

Our starters arrived and were extremely tasty. Although I loved the Poppers, I think the Mushrooms – which were coated in Chiquito’s signature tomato & hot Habanero sauce and melted mozzarella – were my favourite. It was safe to say there wasn’t much left when we’d finished.

It was then time for our main courses, which were again extremely delicious. I really enjoyed both, however I would probably say that the Quesadillas were my favourite if I had to pick between the two. I have dined in a lot of Mexican restaurants and can honestly say that Chiquito’s food was up there with the best of them. They also make an ace Margarita!

The restaurant itself is decorated to a high standard and has the bustling ambience that you would expect from a Mexican restaurant. We were sat in a booth, which was extremely comfortable (and great for a pram) and it was lovely to see a mix of families, couples and groups enjoying their evening.

The staff were all extremely hospitable, friendly and great at making suggestions for menu choices if you weren’t too sure what you fancied.

This is the first time I have dined at a Chiquito restaurant and we were not disappointed. It’s location is great for those who are going to the cinema, have had a long day’s shopping or want to dine somewhere outside of the city centre with easy parking.

Located in Garden Walk in the Metrocentre, full information about the restaurant can be found at http://www.chiquito.co.uk/. You can also download their app to receive exclusive discounts and offers.

Thank you again to Chiquito for a great evening – we will definitely be making a trip back soon!
