Fuego restaurant and bar, which is located in Fenwick Food Hall in Newcastle, has quickly become one of my favourite places to visit in town following its opening earlier this year.
Located on the ground floor near menswear and beauty, Fuego is nestled right beside Fenwick’s specialist drinks shop. Featuring a bar with seating and an additional restaurant area, Fuego is perfect for early afternoon drinks or light early evening meals.
I came across the bar by chance and have been visiting regularly ever since as it provides a relaxed environment that is baby-friendly and located in a great setting. The fact that it’s located in the centre of a shop also gives the atmosphere a bit of a buzz – especially good for people watching!
I have generally visited Fuego for drinks as it boats an extensive wine list, with the option of ordering wine flutes which allow you to sample three different wines – a nice change if you aren’t too sure what you fancy. They also sell a very nice rosé cava!
On my last visit I decided to sample the food, opting for a tapas selection and pizza to share with my husband. We chose a seafood pizza, ratatouille, padron peppers, patatas bravas and hummous. This was followed by an espresso to give us caffeine boost after a long day’s shopping. The service was extremely prompt – with just five minutes before last food orders this was to be expected – and the food was very nice. We will definitely be back again.
Fuego is primarily open during the day, closing an hour after Fenwick. Last orders for food are generally an hour before closing, so make sure you leave time if you are wanting to eat.
I’d highly recommend a visit to anyone looking for somewhere to eat or enjoy a post-shopping drink!
