I tweeted about Groupon yesterday and several people came back asking what it was.
Basically, you sign up for a daily newsletter which includes offers for the city you live in.
I’ve been receiving the newsletters for several months now and used the service for the first time last night.
The voucher we purchased was for Franco’s restaurant in Jesmond (a restaurant that I’d never heard of). We paid £8 for the voucher and got £22 taken off the bill – an absolute bargain! You could order anything from the menu, with the only caveat being that you had to eat before 7pm. The total bill came to £8.75.
The food was lovely! I ordered lobster filled pasta with a tomato sauce – it was delicious! We also shared a portion of potato skins for our starter. The decor was contemporary and there was a fab outside area that would be great for drinks and food in the summer. My friend ordered Gorgonzola filled pasta in a wine and cheese sauce – she said it was delicious too.
