I have just returned from a fantastic trip to Las Vegas and wanted to share some of my key recommendations for those visiting, or thinking of visiting, this fantastic city.
Accommodation
The Flamingo Hotel
We travelled in a group of eight (four couples) and stayed at the Flamingo Hotel. We had received a fantastic deal on the hotel and we extremely impressed with its location and facilities. I’d heard mixed reports about the Flamingo but we were placed in a room that had recently been refurbished meaning we had fantastic facilities and a great view of the strip. For those looking for somewhere central to stay I could not recommend this hotel more. It’s right on the strip and walking distance to all main attractions.
Dining
The Wynn
On our second day we decided to visit the Wynn hotel for a buffet dinner. Priced at around $60 per person, the package included unlimited food and drink. We arrived at around 5.30pm and the food available was fantastic, with almost any dish imaginable available including sushi, seafood, pizza and pasta, grilled meats, salads, enchiladas and some fantastic desserts. From memory, I believe this offer runs from 3pm-10pm.
TAO
Located in the Venetian, TAO offers high quality Asian fusion food. The atmosphere and surroundings of TAO are fantastic and the food was fantastic – especially our starters. Although it’s not cheap, I’d definitely recommend TAO for those looking for something a bit different.
Yard House
Located close to the new LINQ hotel (and Las Vegas’ version of the London Eye) was the Yard House Sports Bar. Offering an extensive menu, we enjoyed lunch here on two occasions and everyone who ate all thoroughly enjoyed their food. The Yard House also offers 150 craft beers and an extensive cocktail menu for those who are looking for a good place for drinks. Sports are also shown in this bar daily.
Drinking
Ghostbar
Located at the top of the Palms Resort, Ghostbar (pictured above) offers fantastic views across Las Vegas. The music was fantastic and the bar was very lively with a Club-style feel. I would 100% recommend this for those who are looking for a good night out in a truly unique setting.
Piano Bar
Located in New York, New York, the Piano Bar offered a bit of an alternative night out. Playing live music all night, the Piano Bar was quite lively when we visited and boasted a great atmosphere. It was a bit of a contrast to the others listed above but definitely worth a visit if passing, just make sure you have your dancing shoes on!
Hyde
Located in the Bellagio, Hyde offers fantastic views of the iconic dancing fountains. The bar opened at 5pm and we arrived early to ensure we had a seat with a good view. Famous for its Bellinis, this bar is definitely worth a visit. The fountains are on every 30 minutes until 7pm and every 15 minutes thereafter.

We visited far too many places to mention but those listed above were definitely some of the highlights. Please feel free to leave a comment if you’d like further information or any other recommendations.
