The Boiler Shop Steamer – Newcastle Events

I made my first visit to The Boiler Shop Steamer in Newcastle this weekend and I can’t believe that I have never been to this event before.

I’d noticed on Facebook that a few friends were attending and decided to go down and see what it was all about.

Taking place in the centre of Newcastle, The Boiler Shop Steamer is hosted in the surroundings of an old boiler shop on the first Friday and Saturday of every month. It brings together some of the region’s leading independent food and drink companies, who offer street food and an array of drinks and cocktails. Local bands and DJs also play throughout the day (the event runs from 12pm – midnight) and families and groups are welcome.

There really is something for everyone. Several drinks companies/bars were there, offering everything from local gins and whiskeys to ales, wine and coffee. We were spoilt for choice with food too, but narrowed it down and opted for some steamed dumplings, a pizza slice and a chicken tikka wrap. We also bought some salted caramel doughnuts. As all of the dishes were small we were able to eat throughout the night which was great.

For anyone looking for something to do on the first weekend of the month I would highly recommend a visit. The atmosphere was fantastic and the food and drink prices were very reasonable. The bands were also very good and certainly added to the evening.

There is an entry fee of £5 per person which was more than worthwhile. We will definitely be making a visit to the October event.
