There has been a lot of hype about the Urban Decay Makeup Setting Spray and as a makeup artist I was keen to put this product to the test! What’s more, instead of using it here in Newcastle (the weather is anything but exotic) I decided to test this in Dubai, where the temperature was almost 40 degrees.
The first time I tried the Urban Decay Makeup Setting Spray was when I went to brunch. Having fully primed my face and finished my makeup I applied this spray as described in the product’s description. It goes onto the skin quite wet and dries quickly and weightlessly; once it was dry you wouldn’t have known it was on my face.
I then made the trip to brunch with my makeup looking perfect, however I did figure a ride in an air-conditioned cab didn’t really constitute a proper test. That quickly changed after I was dropped at the wrong entrance to The Madinat and had to stand in unbearable heat for 20 minutes waiting for a boat to the correct place. I quickly went to the bathroom expecting my makeup to have completely melted off, however it was still completely intact – a very pleasant surprise. With that in mind, I really cannot fault this product as I can’t imagine wearing makeup in an environment that’s more extreme than that. I’m now using this product on all of my customers and it really seems to make a difference. Previously I have just set all of my makeup with powder, however this added layer of protection makes the application even better. I would certainly recommend it to anyone looking for a long-lasting finish.
Urban Decay Makeup Setting Spray can keep makeup looking perfect for up to 16 hours in hot and humid or cold and windy conditions. It can be bought in most departments stores and direct from Urban Decay, priced at £9 for a small bottle and £21 for a large. I used the All-Nighter version of this product, however others are available depending on the finish required.
